Business Intelligence Developer
We're looking to connect with a UK-based Business Intelligence Developer with a strong focus on Power BI and a proven track record in delivering robust, scalable data solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in data warehousing, database design, and modern data platforms, who is keen to further deepen their Power BI expertise while working on high-impact projects.
Role Summary
As a BI Developer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of end-to-end data and reporting solutions. You will work closely with the Director and wider stakeholders, taking ownership of data architecture, modelling, and visualisation to drive actionable insights.
This is a hands-on role requiring both technical depth and strong business engagement, with a particular emphasis on building enterprise-grade Power BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level BI solutions, with a focus on Power BI.
Architect and optimise data warehouse solutions to support reporting and analytics.
Build and manage scalable data models (e.g. star schema, dimensional modelling).
Write complex and efficient SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
Lead the development of high-quality dashboards and visualisations in Power BI (including DAX-heavy models).
Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions and insights.
Integrate data from multiple sources, including cloud platforms and big data environments.
Ensure data solutions are secure, performant, and aligned with best practices.
Drive improvements in data quality, governance, and reporting standards.
Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices across BI and data engineering.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Developer / Data Developer / BI Engineer.
Strong expertise in Power BI, including:
- Advanced DAX
- Data modelling and optimisation
- Performance tuning
Advanced proficiency in SQL (query optimisation, stored procedures, complex joins).
Solid experience in data warehousing and database design.
Experience working with large and complex datasets and/or big data technologies.
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and data transformation.
Strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices.
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, or similar).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
Nice to Have
Experience with Azure data services (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake).
Exposure to Power Platform beyond Power BI (e.g. Power Apps, Power Automate).
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
Experience in client-facing or consultancy environments.
